Avilion is the independent practice of Sebastian Lea — partner-led legal and commercial counsel from the person who actually does the work, and stays with it from the first conversation to the close.
I have spent my career with some of the largest international law firms in the world — most recently as an equity partner at a top-10 UK firm — advising across corporate, commercial and finance work.
My clients have ranged from ambitious regional companies, guided from incorporation onwards, to founders and high-net-worth individuals and multi-billion-dollar listed and private groups — across many sectors and on projects spanning six continents.
One conviction held throughout: legal advice is at its best when the person giving it is fully immersed in the matter — living and breathing the deal alongside you, commercially engaged and alive to the whole of the business rather than any single clause. Avilion is built to deliver exactly that: advice of the same calibre, given by the person doing the work and measured against where the business is trying to go.
Alongside the general practice, I maintain a specialist focus on energy and infrastructure projects — the work that first shaped my career. More on that practice →
Avilion is the older spelling of Avalon — the island of Arthurian legend. It stands for the place where matters are set right and businesses emerge stronger, which is exactly the part good counsel should play. The mark is the Silver Wheel, drawn from the Mabinogion: a wheel, for partnership and momentum; and a compass, for clear and honest direction.
Authentic Expertise — the whole promise in two words.
You are never sold what you do not need. The advice comes first; the invoice follows it.
Plain English rather than jargon. Where a matter calls for another specialist, I say so, and make the introduction.
I work inside the deal, not beside it — commercially engaged, alive to the business as a whole, and thinking past the matter in hand to where you are trying to go.
